Are you thinking of becoming Catholic, or do you know someone who is? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or “RCIA”, is the process by which adults come into full communion with the Catholic Church. Through prayer, study, and discipleship, it allows each person to learn more about their journey of faith and leads to full participation in the Roman Catholic Church through the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil Mass, held each year on Holy Saturday. If you feel God is calling you to this conversion of heart, please join us on this journey to a closer relationship with God and His Church.
Adult Confirmation classes are open to anyone 18 or older, who has not received this sacrament and would like to. In addition to being at least 18 years of age, candidates must also have been baptized in the Roman Catholic Church, have received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, be able to provide sacramental records or other suitable proof of having received those sacraments, and if married, must be in a valid Catholic marriage, or have resolved all questions of sacramental marriage.
Through Confirmation, the Holy Spirit strengthens the graces we received at Baptism, bringing us closer to Christ and better preparing us to face the daily challenges of Christian life. This eight-week preparation is offered in both the Fall and the Spring, and will enable the candidate to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at The Cathedral of St. Joseph, Hartford, as scheduled by the Archdiocesan Center for Catholic Education and Formation.
All Adult Faith Formation classes will be held at St. Therese Parish Center, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven, on Tuesday evenings, from 7-8:30 p.m. RCIA classes meet weekly from October through April; Confirmation classes are scheduled in the Fall and the Spring. Please check the bulletin for class announcements.
Please note: a $50.00 registration fee is required for all candidates and is due at the first class. Please make checks payable to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity. For questions or more information, please contact Deacon Steve or Lisa Bilodeau at (203) 288-4818 or [email protected].
